Brimfield High School is once again scored well-organized on the annual 5-Essentials survey taken by students, teachers, and parents. The overall performance score is composed of each of the 5Essentials scores. Schools that are at or above benchmark on 3 or more essentials are 10 times more likely to improve than schools that are below the benchmark. As visible in the graphic below, BHS scored very strong or strong in all five categories.
As is practice each year, BHS staff will dig through the 5-Essentials data and find areas for improvement. They will also look to see which areas improved, remained the same, or decreased from 2024 to make further school and professional development goals.
Upon first glance, BHS will dig into resources and professional development for Academic Press (expectations, challenge, rigor, etc.) and Math Instruction (explanations, writing in math, and discussions).

As the new school year begins next week, the agriculture department has updated a few stationary power tools and equipment over the past year. They still work and we would love to see them find a new home. No asking price, just a donation if you choose, would be greatly appreciated. The items are:
2 bottom plow
10" Delta contractor's table saw
10" Craftsman table saw
8" 3 amp Delta Bench Grinder
If you are interested, please reach out to us via email, brimfieldffa@gmail.com, to make arrangements to check them out.

Back to School Night

Today Monday, August 4th is In Person registration at Brimfield High School from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
If you're having any problems with Skyward, if you're a new family, if you have questions for transportation/ cafeteria or aftercare you may stop by for help.
"Atlas of the Heart" by Brene Brown was one of the books we read for a Summer No Work Book Study.
You simply read the book on you own and at the end of summer we meet for a "book talk".
Last night 15 staff members gathered to reflect on the book. The book explored/defined over 80 emotions and feelings we (humans) all experience. This atlas allowed many of us to connect to our families, childhood and our own students. We think this book is a must for anyone since we all (big or little) experience these things.
Discover.Inspire.Grow (Strategic Plan- Culture and Climate)

A wonderful evening learning about checking in and connecting with students and one another. Our Brimfield SEAPCO staff, Tiffany Hurt (Social Worker) and Anne Dixon (Learning/Behavior Consultant), gave us some great ideas like using UNO cards to see how kids (or adults) are feelings before learning yesterday. We brainstormed goals, ideas, and opportunities for utilizing Anne and Tiffany throughout the year as resources for staff and students. We had a great group of educators attend: Mrs. Mason, Mrs. Loser, Mrs. Forney, Mrs. McKinty, Mrs. Ryan Gilles, and Mrs. Fraelle Thank you so much for the fun Wellness goodie bags too! (District Goal: Climate and Culture- Professional Development)

More summer learning at Brimfield 309: Thank you to Sonya Pacey from Peoria ROE hosting BGS and BHS staff with a session called Conflict to Connection. This session reminded us how all behavior (even adults) begins in the brain. We explored strategies to help us stay in our Upstairs Brains where learning and connections happen.

Attention Brimfield Community:
Peoria County Sheriff's Office will be conducting scenario based training at Brimfield High School today and Thursday this week. They will continue training next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.
You will probably be seeing a lot of law enforcement in the area!
Thank you to the PCSO for keeping the students and staff of Peoria County Schools safe!
