Parents, Jostens met with the senior class regarding ordering important graduation supplies.  They will be back at the school next Monday, October 7th during lunch to take graduation orders.  Please make sure your senior turns their order form in at that time.  If your senior missed the graduation meeting today, they need to stop by the school office to pick up their packet.  You may place your graduation order two different ways: Turn your order form or Indian Pack into our Jostens reps, Rob Epperson & Brock Danko, on Monday, Oct. 7 at school. You can also visit Jostens.com and search My School Store for Brimfield High School and search through graduation packages. If you order online before Monday, please make sure you see the Jostens rep to receive your senior gear! Thank you! Rob Epperson rob.epperson@jostens.com

Happy Friday Brimfield,  BHS rocked another week of excellence.  Our volleyball team continues to roll, including a big win over Illini Bluffs on Thursday.  Their next home game is Oct. 11th.  They’d love for everyone to come on out and cheer them on.  Our football team continues to thrive, dominating Decatur St. Teresa last Friday.  Tonight, they are at home in Elmwood against Farmington.  This is a huge game and the boys would love to give you a show under the Friday night lights, so come on out.  This past Wednesday, Ms. Ross and Mrs. Walser facilitated our first Class of 2025 parent meeting.  Thank you to everyone who came.  Be on the lookout for our FAFSA parent night later this year.  Finally, our STUCO kids organized and led our 3rd annual BHS Powder Puff games this week.  This is always a fun time and we are proud of our kids for making this happen!  Congrats to the sophomores for winning the championship this afternoon, and a huge thank you to Mr. Clarke, Mr. Sams, and Mr. Porter for officiating.  Also, thank you to Brody Kenney for setting up the field each day.  And a huge gratitude to the BHS STUCO officers for making Powder Puff 2024 happen.     Our BHS students made improvements in our school’s overall chronic absenteeism rate this week.  Our chronic absenteeism rate dropped to 8.1%.  We currently have 15 students that have missed more than 10% of the school year. Please know that students must maintain an attendance rate of 90% to be able to participate in extracurricular activities.  This information can be found on p. 17 of the BHS handbook.  Despite a slight uptick in absences due to illness, BHS students are holding a pretty steady daily average attendance rate of 96.3% for the school year so far.           Students were and are currently invited to try out for our Academic Challenge team (formerly WYSE)! This is a great opportunity if students enjoy academic competitions and want to test their knowledge in subjects like English, math, science, and more. Plus, it looks great on college applications and resumes!  A google form was sent to all students’ email to sign up.  They can also chat with Ms. Barrow or Ms. Carter if they have any questions.     We have fun events coming up again next week.  On Tuesday, Mr. Sams and his A3 PE class will host our Mark Bills Life Skills buddies.  Jostens will also be here to meet with our senior class on Tuesday during homeroom.  On Thursday, Ms. Ross will be hosting her ACT study group in the Library during homeroom times.  Finally, on Friday during lunch, Ms. Ross will host a teaching, scholarship, and apprenticeship group during lunchtime.  And on Saturday, head out to Maple Lane Country Club for the most positive sports events known to schools as our Cross Country runners put in the work Saturday morning.   On behalf of the entire BHS staff, have a lovely weekend and #Shape309.

Happy Friday Brimfield, BHS had another full, successful week. Our volleyball team had two great wins at home this week. They are off to quite the season so far. Our football team continued their winning streak as well on Friday, and they take on St. Teresa in Decatur tonight. On Tuesday our Spanish 4 students and Ms. Henson hosted our Mark Bills Life Skills friends again. And Ms. Ross offered our students several opportunities this past week including a Bradley University visit, an ICC visit, a Golden Apple Scholarship Program visit, and she also ran the first ACT study group. Families can keep updated with the various opportunities Ms. Ross offers all our students by following her Facebook page, BHS Counseling. Our students have continued to work towards our attendance goals that we set last school year. Every day we record our school-wide attendance rate on the office door, as well as the amount of morning tardies. BHS students have kept the morning tardies under five every single school day this year. There is typically between zero and two tardies each day. This is a massive improvement from the start of last school year. Furthermore, our attendance rate has been over 95% every single day with the exception of August 30th. Finally, our chronic absenteeism rate is still slightly higher than we would like with 10.3% of our students having missed more than 10% of the school year so far. Seven of those students are likely to increase their attendance rates next week with five days of attendance, taking our chronic absenteeism rate down to 6.5%. Please know that students must maintain an attendance rate of 90% to be able to participate in extracurricular activities. This information can be found on p. 17 of the BHS handbook. Also, the cheapest time to get the 2024-2025 yearbook is now until Sept. 27th. The grade level that has the highest percentage of bought yearbooks will earn a free homeroom period. Again, this is until Friday the 27th and it is the cheapest price offered. You can purchase one online at Jostens.com. There’s plenty going on next week here at BHS. If weather cooperates, our Student Council will host the second annual Powder Puff games on Wednesday and Friday during homeroom. Wednesday is an early dismissal day, with students leaving at 1:50 pm. On Wednesday night, Mrs. Walser and Ms. Ross are holding a Class of 2025 Parent meeting. They will discuss key dates, graduation requirements, FAFSA/Financial Aid (our ISAC state rep will be attending in-person to answer your questions), when to expect the scholarship packets, college applications, transcripts, taking tours, and any questions you have about senior year. Thursday is our third themed dress up day, Super Hero Day. The grade level with the greatest participation will earn a free homeroom period. Finally, on Friday it’s time again for Friday Night Lights as the boys will take on Farmington at home. Come cheer them on. On behalf of the entire BHS staff, have a lovely weekend and #Shape309.
