Mr. Bernales Education/Work Experience/Extracurricular Activities

Since the fourth grade, Mr. Bernales was home educated and earned his high school equivalency diploma (GED) at age 17. He later earned an Associate's Degree from Carl Sandburg Community College with an emphasis on Music in 2005, but switched to majoring in Mathematics Education. He then earned his Bachelor's (2009) and Master's (2011) Degrees in Mathematics from Illinois State University. After graduating from ISU, he became a math teacher at Abingdon High School in 2011, and then became a math teacher at Brimfield High School in 2013. Aside from being a high school teacher, he has taught part-time at Lincoln Community College, Carl Sandburg Community College, Illinois Central College and Midstate College. Mr. Bernales is both the grade school and high school chess coach.
