A review of first-year chemistry topics and an advanced study of new topics including organic chemistry, polymers, thermochemistry, equilibrium, oxidation and reduction, and nuclear reactions.

Tentative syllabus

Unit I: Review fundamentals- atomic structure and names, electron

configuration, trends of the periodic table, chemical equations, organic chemistry, and stoichiometry.

Unit II: Chapter 11 Causes of Change

              Chapter 12 Gases and Liquids

Unit III: Chapter 13 Solutions

               Chapter 14 Chemical equilibrium

Unit IV: Chapter 15 Acids and Bases

                Chapter 16 Reaction Rates

Unit V: Chapter 17 Electrochemistry

               Chapter 18 Nuclear Chemistry


9 Week Grades

        Based on ratio:  number of points earned/number of points available

        daily work points range approximately 10-50

        test point range approximately 50-150
