Advanced Social Studies:  This is a one semester course (.5 credit), and is only open to students who will be entering 12th grade.  It is not a weighted grade course, but does require time spent outside of school hours.

Advanced social studies gives students a chance to put their knowledge of society and civic planning into action.  Students must have completed Sociology and Psychology with a “C” grade or better.  Students in this course will spend the entire semester planning events, learning about how they can change the world around them, developing a plan for change, and then putting these plans into action.  Service learning is a major component in this senior level course.  Grades are based on enthusiastic participation in the planning and implementation of projects of their choice.  Instructor approval is required for this course.
