Welcome to my biography page! If you are viewing this page it means that you need to know a little bit more about me and what I teach at Brimfield High School.
I received a BS in Parks and Recreation Management from the University of Illinois, my teaching certificate from Western Illinois University and a Master's degree in teaching from University of Illinois-Springfield. My husband and I have been married since 1990; he is also a teacher and we constantly debate which is the more useful subject, science or history! We have two great kids, Grant who is now an 8th grade math teacher in Moline, and Paige is attending Luther College in Iowa, studying accounting.
The social studies department here at BHS consists of myself and Mr. Carlson. The following courses are left to me to teach: Ancient World History, Modern World History, Sociology, Psychology, Advanced Social Studies, World History and Geography. Each year my favorite course to teach changes as I learn more and more from each unique group of students.
In addition to classroom teaching I also am the sponsor of HANDS, or Helping Area Needs thru Dedicated Service. HANDS is our service group here at BHS. We are involved in many kinds of volunteer work in the community, and are always looking for new project ideas and volunteers.
I am also fortunate to be able to help with our FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) here at BHS. Mr. Carlson and I have really enjoyed working with this group of quality young people over the years. We are looking forward to another great year of Bible study and doughnuts, a great combination. We meet every other Friday morning at 7:30 in Mr. Carlson's room. Everyone is welcome!
