Monica Freaner
Biography
Monica Freaner is one of the English teachers at the high school. Her class schedule is split between English I - a required class for all freshmen and several English electives. During the first semester, students may enroll in her Expository Writing, Media Literacy or Literature and Pop Culture courses. Second semester, her electives include Reading and Writing for Inquiry, Creative Writing and Media Literacy.
Mrs. Freaner is a graduate of Beloit College, Beloit WI where she completed her bachelors degree in Literary Studies and Secondary Education. Mrs. Freaner has also earned her masters degree in English Studies and post-baccalaureate certificate in Teaching Writing from Illinois State University.
Mrs. Freaner is actively involved in several professional organizations. She is an active member of the Illinois English Teacher's Association, a fellow in the National Writing Project, and a local leader in the Illinois Education Association.
