Pre-Kindergarten Screening Information

Brimfield school district’s all day 4 year old Pre-Kindergarten classroom will be holding screenings for the 2010-2011 school year.

The screenings will take place on:
Wednesday, March 10th 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, March 11th 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Friday, March 19th 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Children must be 4 years of age by September 1, 2010.  This 4 year old classroom is an all day program that follows the Brimfield school district calendar. Brimfield’s Pre-Kindergarten is a developmentally appropriate kindergarten readiness classroom that focuses on a curriculum rich in phonemic awareness, math awareness, and reading readiness.

Pre-Kindergarten Schedule
8:00 – 8:15 Arrival, backpacks, coats, pledge, folders, notes from home
8:15 - 8:45 Whole group instruction, calendar, weather, days in school, morning songs
8:45 – 9:00 Restroom break, journal writing, lunch count and attendance        
9:00 – 10:00 Developmental learning centers
10:00 – 10:30 Whole group instruction – phonemic awareness, literature, story board/drama
10:30 – 10:45 Gym shoes, restroom break
10:45 – 11:15 Gym – Miss Sampier or Mrs. Gore/Mrs. Johnson
11:20 – 12:15 Lunch, restroom break
12:15 – 1:15 Quiet time
1:15 – 1:45 Snack time
1:45 – 2:15 Whole class instruction, art projects, miscellaneous activities
2:15 – 2:30 M, T, W, Th – Mrs. Paxson, Reading Specialist Instruction
* Fridays 2:15 – Special projects, cooking, movies, star of the week
2:35 – 3:00 Pack up & wrap up for the day, and/or recess  

Specials * Music, 20 minutes twice weekly with Mr. Camp, music teacher   
  * Library, 20 minutes, once a week with Mrs. Stevens, librarian
  * Art, twice monthly with Ms. DeVena, high school art teacher
