Coins For Kids Fundraiser
By Sarah Moon
The Coins for Kids fundraiser for Easter Seals is here! The kick-off for the campaign will be on February 19th during a grade-school assembly held at 2:30pm in the BGS gymnasium.
Coins for Kids is a way to incorporate school and community involvement with students who have special needs. Easter Seals is an organization which provides life-changing intervention to allow children with special needs to succeed through physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and many other avenues to improve abilities and overcome disabilities.
Last year, the Coins for Kids was a HUGE success! Brimfield students and families brought literally thousands of coins to school, raising $2669.65 for Easter Seals… a RECORD SETTING AMOUNT for the Peoria-area!! WOW!!
Your participation as students, families, and a community begins with filling your “Coin Bank” each evening with left-over change from the day (or change sitting around the house!), having your son/daughter bring the Coin Bank to school for deposit each day into their classroom jar, and watching as the BGS Coins for Kids jar fills up! Coin Banks will be sent home on Friday, February 19th, with an informational guide to this great campaign. The grand total for BGS will be announced on February 26th, and a check will be presented to Easter Seals as part of the Easter Seals Telethon Total for 2010.
This year, Brimfield Grade School is privileged to have an Easter Seals Ambassador for Brimfield, Jared Hicks, son of Dan and Connie Hicks, attending Kindergarten in Mr. Davis’ class.
Now, clean out your couches and pockets… let’s help make disabilities turn into abilities!
