BGS Cares About the Environment
Talking "Green" in the Classroom.........

On Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14, Rebecca
Cottrell from Peoria County Recycling & Resource Conservation
Center visited BGS classrooms teaching our students the importance
of the 3 R’s……..Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
The age appropriate lessons covered many important conservation
issues. The children were encouraged to reduce waste by reusing
many things instead of throwing them away. They learned what can be
recycled and what new things can be made from recycled materials.
Even though she was here to teach us about recycling, she was
pretty impressed by the knowledge the students already have when it
comes to environmental issues.
Ms. Cottrell visited pre-k through 6th grade, even going to the
Brimfield Library to do a presentation to our 3 and 4 year olds in
Bright Futures. Having respect for our environment is important for
everyone, so the younger we learn this, the healthier our plant
will be in the future.
Check with your child to see if Ms. Cottrell visited their
classroom. If so, ask what you can do to help make Planet Earth a
healthier place for your family.
