Medication Safety
by Lonye Gilles
Parents, Please do not send your child to school with any kind of medication to take on their own. If your child is on medication that needs to be taken in the morning, please give them the medicine at home. Do not send it with the child to be taken independently at school. If your child is to take medication sometime during the school day, they need to give it to their teacher so
it can be dispensed properly with adult supervision.
So………..for the safety of all of the children, please have your child follow the rules for medication at school. This goes for prescription and over-the-counter medication, as all of it can be very dangerous when taken by the wrong person. This is especially important with children.
RULES: All medication must be accompanied by a note giving permission for your child to take the medicine at school. The note should have the child’s name, the dose to be given, how long the child can receive the medicine, the date, and your signature. It should be in the original bottle. If it is prescription medication, a doctor’s slip must also be sent. Our job is to assure the safety of all of our students. By complying with these simple rules, you can do your part to help us in this effort.
