Subjects - U.S. History, Civics, & Consumer Education
U.S. History 1 - This class includes a review of the Native Americans, early exploration, the colonial life, & the Revolutionary War. The main part of the class includes a study from the Civil War through the "Great War".
Major Assignment = Paper on an aspect of slavery.
U.S. History 2 - This class will cover information from events prior to the First World War through history happening today.
Major Assignment = Creation of a UN magazine.
Civics - (Government) This class will study the U.S. Constitution in great detail, including topics such as federalism, checks & balances, & judicial review. We will also exam Illinois government.
Major Test = the U.S. Constitution Exam.
Consumer Education - This class will learn about the value of budgeting. Students will learn to manage money by experiencing "Life" each day with consumer tasks.
Major Practice = Check writing, budgeting, & decision making.
Grading:
Tests & Quizzes = Points (ex. 50/50; 100/100)
Class Work = 50 points per 9 weeks.
Unexcused late to class = -1
Lacking needed material = -1
Not alert = -2
Not using class time = -1
Binders = 25 points per 9 weeks (optional)
Binders must be completed, in order, & neat.
Final Grade.
1st 9 Weeks = 40%; 2nd 9 Weeks = 40%; Final Exam = 20%
Needed Materials = Book, Paper, Writing utensil, & Binder (recommended)
